PROJECT ACCELERATE CONSORTIUM ("PAC") PRIVACY POLICY

PAC is committed to safeguarding your privacy online. Please read our following Privacy Policy to understand how we will treat your personal information.

Personal Information We Collect

PAC collects information in several ways.

Some personal information is gathered when you create your Profile and input User Data. During the Profile creation, we ask for your name, email address, affiliation, and other professional or personal information. The more User Data you volunteer (and the more accurate they are), the better we are able to customize your experience. Our primary goal in collecting personal information from you is to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience while using our Site. To fully use the Service, you will need to register using our online Profile form. You can edit your User Data and Profile at ,

We automatically track certain information about you based upon your behavior on our Site. We use this information to do internal research on our users' demographics, interests, and behavior to better understand and serve them. This information is compiled and analyzed on an aggregated basis. It may include the URL you just came from (whether this URL is on our Site or not), which URL you next go to (whether this URL is on our Site or not), and what browser you're using.

What are cookies and how does PAC use them?

As part of offering and providing customizable and personalized services, we use cookies to store information about you. A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. Before adding any information to Project Accelerate you are prompted to log in and your browser must be set to accept cookies. (See the Site's FAQs - for more information on cookies.)

Cookies are stored on your hard drive, not on our site. You are always free to decline our cookies if your browser permits, although in that case you will not be able to use certain features on the Site, online courses in particular.

Generally, we use cookies to:

(a) Remind us of who you are and to access your User Data (stored on our computers) i to deliver a better and more personalized service to you. This cookie is set when you register or "Log In".

(b) Estimate our audience size. Each browser accessing the Site is given a unique cookie that is then used to determine the extent of repeat usage and usage by registered and unregistered users.

(c) Measure certain traffic patterns, which areas of the Site you have visited, and your visiting patterns in the aggregate. We use this research to understand how our users' habits are similar or different from one another so that we can make each new experience on the Site a better one. We may use this information to better personalize the Content that you and other users will see and use on the Site.

With whom does PAC share my information?

We will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information except when we have your permission or under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it. For example, we may do so if we respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process or if we establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims. In addition, we may share personally identifying information if we investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of PAC's AUP, or as we believe it is otherwise required by law. [Also, if PAC is merged or acquired by another entity, we will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.]

We do not sell or rent User Data to anyone.

What security precautions are in place to protect the loss, misuse, or alteration of my information?

Your Profile and User Data are password-protected. You may edit your Profile and User Data by logging in and using the link on your home page. We limit access to personal information about you to those who we believe reasonably need that information to do their jobs.

We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. We will never ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email. Also remember to Log Out of your PAC account or close your browser window when you have finished your work. This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or Internet cafe.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time, but we will notify you of significant changes in the way we treat personal information by sending a notice to the primary email address specified in your Profile or by placing a prominent notice on our Site.
