Learning Context: |
| Each December in kindergarten we look at the different holiday traditions observed around the world. Typically we hear a story, do a project, and then illustrate a page in our book December Holidays Around the World. This lesson would be given after the story was read and the project was completed. |

Assessment Plan:
|
| Teacher assessment would be done by asking each student to "tell about the picture she drew". If the picture was on-topic, then the objective was achieved. If the answer was not on topic, the teacher would ask further questions to find out why that picture was drawn. |
Student Work:
|
| The completed picture in the book would be the student work. |
Procedure:
|
| Teacher Directions: Teacher would read aloud the page in the book helping students track print by reading slowly, allowing them to chime in with words they know, and informing them when to go to the next line. She would then ask the students to brainstorm everything they know about Christmas in Germany. Final directions would be to draw a picture in the December Holidays book that matches what we know about Germany. Examples of good and bad pictures to draw would be elicited. Student Directions: Anticipatory Set - What happened in the story we read this morning with the little old woman? (Students would retell story). What kind of project did we do? Why? (Connects story and project). Read with me this paragraph about Germany in your December Holidays book. |
